A History of CommitmentOur community at Augustana seldom takes the opportunity to reflect upon our many achievements and successes over the life of this congregation. We are blessed with a record of meaningful reforms and bold initiatives that have underscored our lasting commitments to diversity, inclusiveness, unity of purpose, and rock-solid beliefs in our faith and our witness. We rally around our issues and challenges as effectively as any congregation in our city. And we have never feared a new challenge that may seem on its surface too imposing for us to conquer. The current capital campaign for accessibility and renovation should prove to be no exception to that rich history of faith and determination. But if we are to reach our financial goals, we must again make a unified commitment to full partnership among all members of our community of faith. We have far too many members who have, for whatever reason, failed to respond to the request for a multi-year pledge to demonstrate our ability to finance this project. We ask today that you make a commitment to yourself that you will prayerfully reflect upon how generous you can be in becoming part of this project with your own pledge. This is one Augustana program that will not succeed without full congregational support and participation. We need your commitment now so we might proceed with executing this project. Please do your part to perpetuate our legacy of meeting even the largest of challenges. Michael and Marilynn Olson |
