Accessibility Update

Exciting News! Bids are in for Accessibility And Renovation
On January 15 we received bids from four general contractors eager
to renovate our building and make it accessible. Though somewhat higher
than we had hoped, two of the bids are within negotiating range. The
Task Force on Accessibility and Renovation is now processing them.
The Task Force will meet with our architect, Andre Houston, on January
28 to discuss a strategy for negotiating with contractors, followed
by a meeting or meetings with the contractors themselves. The lowest
bids came from Monarc Construction Inc. and Kfoury Construction Group,
both experienced contractors in our area.
Please continue to keep our accessibility and renovation project in
your prayers, that our negotiations will be successful, our final plan
will receive congregational approval, and we will be able to begin
construction this spring.
We thank everyone for donations and payments on pledges during December
and January that brought the amount of cash received since the beginning
of the project to more than $375,000. The continuing inflow of cash
has permitted us to pay architect’s fees, air condition the sanctuary,
and upgrade our electrical supply without seeking a loan.
As we move to major construction, we obviously will need to seek substantial
additional financing, including a sizeable loan. Additional pledges,
increases in pledges, and infusions of cash now would come at an optimum
time and would help to keep loan costs manageable.
The Task Force is very excited about the plans for accessibility and
renovation we have worked through with our architect over the past
two years. We hope you are excited too. We are getting very close to
being able to turn those dreams and plans into on-the-ground reality.
Will you help with pledges, donations, and prayers?
